Eat bagels to help out

We’re doing something a little bit different from the norm this Halloween. As parties have been cancelled, fancy dress discos postponed indefinitely, and trick-or-treating has become a big no-no, we’ve come up with an ingenious way to enjoy the spooky festivities while staying safe. We’ll still be going door to door, but instead of trick-or-treating, we’re going to do something that could help many people…

If you’re placing an order for delivery within Suffolk on 31st October, you might be greeted by our CEO, Poppy, who will be dressed up to suit the occasion! You might also see that Poppy will also have a bucket in hand, along with your delicious bagels. This bucket is what we’d like to see full of loose change by the end of our delivery rounds! The cause? To raise money for the NSPCC.

Lots of children will have experienced past Halloweens where they can have fun with friends, dress up and go to parties. This year is very different, with scary stories at home in place of apple bobbing, and dressing up to stay in rather than going out. But as long as we’re all staying safe, that’s about as bad as Halloween gets. For other children, life isn’t quite the same, whether this year or in previous years. This is why Poppy decided to choose the NSPCC as the charity to benefit our fundraising efforts. It’s also why she is pledging to donate her £5 delivery salary to the charity on the 31st.

Always looking for opportunities to help out, Poppy said, ‘I usually spend my earnings on sweets, toys or other fun things for myself; but this year I want to donate it to other children who can’t have those things. It makes me happy to know that I can help other kids in need through the NSPCC.’

We’re very lucky to have such a charitable CEO!

Many kids like Poppy are missing out on trick-or-treating this year. Unfortunately, it’s just not wise considering how easily it can contribute to the spread of the pandemic. Even if a bag of sweets was left on a doorstep without the need for contact, there would still be many kids picking out sweets, comparing them with their friends’, then putting them back and picking out another - and rightly so, we all want the best sweets! But in a world where we want to reduce contact as much as possible, trick-or-treating is one of those activities that we’ll have to look forward to next year.

If you’re saving a bit of money on buying sweets for trick-or-treaters this year, we would be so grateful if you could donate this to our campaign and help us hit our fundraising goals for the NSPCC. Any cash donations we get through our delivery round will be paid directly into the fund, and we’ll announce our big total after the fundraiser has ended. If you’re like the Queen and you don’t carry change, you can always donate through our online fundraiser here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/avi-kniznik.

We hope you’ll join us in supporting this cause to help kids around the country this Halloween! See you on the 31st!
