The all-real Pumpkin Spice bagel
You might have already seen that we’ve introduced a brand new bagel for the month of October - now let us tell you what it’s all about!
Our Pumpkin Spice Bagel is a celebration of all things autumnal. It evokes that warm, cosy feeling you get when the weather gets a little cooler, the nights start to draw in, and all you can think about is tucking into something delicious with your favourite hot drink. This bagel was made to be enjoyed while wrapped in a blanket in front of the television on a cold autumn night!
Pumpkin spice is nothing new - we know that. We’re all familiar with the signature autumnal beverage of the world’s most popular coffee shop chain. However, what we do - that others don’t - is use all-real ingredients in our Pumpkin Spice Bagel. That means no artificial flavourings. Just good, wholesome ingredients.
These bagels are made with real pumpkin, so that you can get that perfect taste of autumn in every bite. Pumpkin is such a unique flavour and definitely underused these days in the UK; but in Canada (where Bagel or Beigel owner, Avi, is from), pumpkin is used in many different savoury and sweet dishes during the autumnal period. It’s very fulfilling to be able to use this distinctive flavour and put it into our very own bagels!
Paired with the pumpkin are a magical blend of spices: nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. These spices were just made to go together in a sweet bagel! While not necessarily sweet by themselves, they highlight and bring another dimension to the sweetness of food. And they complement the pumpkin to no end.
Finally, the bagel is sprinkled with demerara sugar. We’ve calculated the perfect amount of sugar to use so that it doesn’t at all overpower the flavours in the bagel, but instead provides a sweetness and crunch with each bite.
So what do you pair this bagel with? You could, of course, eat it on its own! But it’s also mouth-wateringly delicious when coupled with sweet cream cheese, chocolate spread or honey. If you want to ‘kill’ (as described by bakers) your bagel by toasting it, then we advise spreading a little butter on it to soften up that crunch.
