Easter and Passover bagels

Cluck, moo, baa, and whatever animal noises you want to make - spring is here and with it comes Easter and Passover! Just like we did at Christmas and Hanukkah, we’re helping you celebrate two holidays. But this time, we’ve got TWO different bagels on offer.

As always, the Bagel or Beigel kitchens are crazy busy with the amount of orders we’ve got to fulfill, but we couldn’t hide away from this special time for family and celebration, especially when lockdown rules are easing around the holidays. Hopefully some of us will be able to (safely) see a few more faces and tuck into some delicious bagels while we revel in that little bit of freedom we’ve been afforded. And fingers crossed the weather is nice so we can make the most of sitting in each other’s gardens!

Our Easter bagel is, of course, a hot cross bun bagel! Representing the crucifixion of Jesus, hot cross buns are instantly identifiable for the cross on the tops of the buns, as well as the spices that give them their unique flavour. Did you know that the spices actually represent the spices which were used to embalm Christ after his death? If you didn’t, you probably won’t be able to look at a hot cross bun the same way ever again…

Our Easter hot cross bun bagels can be eaten with any filling (let us know just how you like your in the comments section!), but there’s no better way to enjoy them than with our ultra special cream cheese spread - with an Easter twist! This month, our delicious spread comes with milk chocolate and caramel mixed in to create a sweet, cocoa concoction that mustn't be missed! If you have a sweet tooth, this smooth, creamy filling will be perfect in your bagel. And, as always, it’s suitable for all of our customers, including vegans.

For Passover, we’ve gone traditional again by creating a matzah recipe. Matzah is a bread without yeast or raising agents that sits at the heart of Passover celebrations. It represents the bread that the Israelites made while fleeing Egypt from slavery; they had to leave so quickly that they couldn’t wait for their bread to rise. Thus, we create matzah today with just plain flour and water, plus additional ingredients used outside of Passover. This bread isn’t just symbolic of the freedom of the Israelites, it also reminds us to be humble - something which we’ve all learned to do during this pandemic!

If these bagels sound like the perfect addition to your Easter/Passover/coming out of lockdown celebrations, then we can’t wait to be a part of them! Enjoy them while you’re out for a walk, bring one to a picnic or savour them in your garden with your friends and family. Don’t forget to tag us in your group photos too, we’d love to see everyone enjoying a little bit of normality alongside their Bagel or Beigels. Order as soon as possible to get your delivery in time for 3rd April!
